Michelle Chretien

Michelle Chrétien joined the Xerox Research Centre of Canada (XRCC) in 2007 is currently Program Manager for Strategic Research as well as the Product Manager for Electronic Materials. Michelle leads a group focused on fundamental and applied materials science and is responsible for the design and characterization of materials for both Xerox Corporation and external clients. Her group is also active in the fabrication and characterization of printed electronics and 3D-printed objects.

Michelle is passionate about the commercialization of innovation and public engagement in science. She devotes time to various science outreach activities and has served as an elected member of the Inter-American Photochemical Society Advisory Board and RISE Canada. She is currently a director on the board of TWA Canada.

Michelle received her BSc in Chemistry from Dalhousie University and PhD from the University of Ottawa for work in photochemistry and photophysics. Her PhD thesis was nominated for the Governor General’s Medal and was awarded the IUPAC Prize for Young Chemists. Prior to joining XRCC, Michelle was an NSERC Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Centre for Biological Applications of Mass Spectrometry in Montréal. Michelle has published 21 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and holds 63 US patents on novel materials and marking technologies. In 2010 Chrétien was recognized by PrintAction as one of the Canadian printing industry’s Top 35 Under 35 for her technological contributions.

Michelle lives in Streetsville, ON with her husband and two young sons and is currently enjoying her newest role as a hockey mom.
