CSPC Statement on "Strike For Black Lives’ Campaign"

Yesterday, many members of the academic community (in Canada and beyond) paused their teaching and research activities (as part of the STRIKE 4 BLACK LIVES campaign to educate themselves about systemic racism and learn how to advocate for fully integrated anti-racism in their communities, and to give Black academics the space to process the horrific recent acts against their community.

At CSPC, we participated in this campaign, by cancelling our public events and talking to our volunteers regarding what we, as an organization, can do to support and amplify Black voices in our community while also identifying and dismantling the barriers that represent structural racism in the science and innovation ecosystem.

CSPC commits to listening to Black community members and encourages you to share your thoughts on what we can do as an organization to become more inclusive and help raising the issues of systemic racisms within science and innovation policy community. We invite you to write to us at

CSPC is fully committed to a science and innovation community that is free of any kind of racism because we know that this leads to the best kind of science and innovation. Equity, diversity, inclusion & accessibility have always been guiding principles at CSPC and are necessary for a robust science and innovation policy community in Canada.
